Introducing young students, age 3 to 5 years old, to dance has its advantages at this age when you can find cute and inexpensive dance outfits at most chain stores. Select an outfit that will not chafe the skin and one that enables the student to move freely. Properly fitted shoes are a must!
Creative Movement: Leotard and tights or comfortable clothing, pink ballet slippers
Ballet and Tumble: Leotard and tights or comfortable clothing, pink ballet slippers
Combo: Leotard and tights or comfortable clothing, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes
In an effort to introduce students in Pre-Ballet and Pre-Jazz to the disciplines of dance, conformity in uniform gives instructors an opportunity to make proper observations and corrections in class.
Pre-Ballet
Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers
Pre-Jazz
Any color leotard, or form fitting top, tights, jazz shorts or black jazz pants, caramel boot style jazz shoes
Ballet
Black leotard, pink tights, pink (canvas recommended) ballet slippers
Age 11 years + may also wear a ballet skirt. Hair in bun, bangs clipped or pinned back.
Tap
Any color leotard, tights, or form fitting top, shorts, or pants that expose the feet, black oxford tap shoes
Jazz/ Lyrical
Any color leotard, or form fitting top, tights, jazz shorts or jazz pant that expose the feet, caramel color boot style jazz shoe. Modern: bare feet
Hip Hop/Boys & Girls
Active wear, baggy pants, form fitting shirts, clean gym shoes. Black hip hop shoes, which provide the best support, required for recital.
Acrobatics
Active wear, shorts, jazz pant, form fitting tops, bare feet or white gymnastic shoes
In all classes hair should be pulled away from the face and secured with hair ties or barrettes. Hair should be in a bun for all ballet classes.
In an effort to keep all costs at a minimum, the following administration policies will be enforced. Account statements are available upon request. If at any time you have questions concerning your account, please call to make an appointment so that we may answer any questions or concerns you may have. As we will expect you to be timely and responsible for your balances, we want to be responsive to you as well.
There is a $15.00 registration fee (non-refundable) each year due at registration. Family registration fees, two or more students from the same household, are $30.00 per year. $50 costume deposit per class required at registration. Costume deposit refunds or credits available only before October 31st if a class is dropped. $15, $20, or $25 drop- in fee to try a class, with the fee being credited to the monthly tuition if you sign up for the class.
$25.00 returned check fee. All checks payable to Michelle’s Academy of Dance. MasterCard and Visa accepted.
$15.00 late fee. Tuition is due the first class of each month through May. Tuition will be late after the 10th of each month. No Refunds for tuition after 2nd lesson. Students will not be permitted to attend class after (1) month of non-payment. All balances must be paid in full to participate in the year end recital.
Auto Pay is available to busy parents and is especially helpful to parents who carpool.
Class Make Ups: If you miss a class, it can be made up in another class in the same category or age group within 30 days. No refunds or credits on missed classes.
Class Cancellations: Classes canceled because of equipment malfunction, or teacher emergency will be rescheduled, posted at the studio and notes will come home. Class canceled due to weather will not be rescheduled. All classes are subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to enrollment or teacher availability.
Snow Days: Call the studio after 8:30am for morning classes and after 3:30pm for evening classes to hear recording concerning cancellations. Classes are not always canceled when public schools close because the road conditions improve by the evening.
Class Size: The number of students in each class depends on the genre taught, and the age of students. Some classes, in addition to the instructor, will have demonstrators or assistants.
Please, no street shoes on dance room floors. Proper shoes are expected for your student by the second week of class. Please put your child’s name in their dance shoes. Check Lost and Found often!
We ask the students to keep their hands and bodies away from the mirrors. No food or beverages (except water) are allowed in the classrooms.
We ask students to arrive not more than 15 minutes before their scheduled classes. We do not provide childcare in the lobby before, during or after classes. Parents are asked to supervise their children in the lobby and common spaces before and between classes and to please pick children up on time. We cannot be responsible for children outside the studio.
